The original sweathogs program (decades ago) included dialing every home number on a given street, using the reverse directory, three days each week.  Students started at 9am and could not stop dialing until they'd scheduled a listing appointment.  Some sat there into the evening!  That method is not only obsolete, but today, it risks violating Do Not Call regulations.
