7 Days to Overcoming Your FSBO Fear

If you have been reluctant to tackle FSBO’s as a source of listings, this 7 day program will help you get past the fear of approaching them.

Once you are able to approach a FSBO fearlessly, the rest is easy. Handle them just like you would any other listing prospect. Of course they don’t want to pay a commission, and the truth is nobody else does either.

So, let’s get you over the fear of approaching them, and take it one day at a time.

Day 1:  Drive by and gaze longingly at the door. Think about what you would say if you knocked on the door and they answered. Visualize them opening the door, looking at you and saying, “Can I help you?” 

Day 2:  Stop the car and gaze longingly at the door, think about what you would say and say it out loud to yourself. 

Day 3:  Stop the car. Get out. Gaze longingly at the door and think about what you could say and say it out loud to yourself.

Day 4:  Stop the car. Get out. Walk up to the front door. Don’t knock. Run away. But think about what you could say and say it out loud to yourself.

Day 5:  Stop. Get out. Walk to the door. Knock, hoping they don’t answer and thinking about what you could say. If they do answer, apologize for the intrusion and run away.

Day 6:  Visualize one of your competitor’s For Sale signs in their yard instead of yours and think about what you should have said yesterday. 

Day 7:  Wake up from yesterday’s bad dream and go knock on the door. When (and if) they open the door, hoping they don’t recognize you as the stalker who ran away, say something. Anything. It’s better than running away.

 

Remember what Floyd taught us about FSBO’s.

“If you go over there to get their listing, that’s why you won’t even get in the door.”
