By Floyd Wickman Ahhhh, I love March don’t you?  Lots of talk about LUCK with a little MADNESS thrown in!  As someone who’s been around the block a few times in this business, I can tell you for certain that for the most part – there’s not a lot of LUCK involved in making it to the top and staying there.

What’s it take?  Creating your own luck – or better still, your own foundation for greatness.  What do I see when I look at top producers and Master Salespeople?  People willing to RAISE the bar. Eager to go the EXTRA mile.  Sales professionals who are PASSIONATE about people and about service.  I see people who know that to realize their goals they’re going to have to step up to the plate and do some things differently than they’ve ever done before and differently than their competitors and they are ready and willing.

As we head into this new month – ask yourself if you are willing to adopt these same traits into your life and career.  And if you’re up for a spring challenge, I’ve got one for you.  In the month of March I double dog dare you to…

• Block out 1 hour more per week on fine tuning your skills or learning something new.  There’s always something to learn.  Things like social media strategies, closing skills, negotiating, presenting or a little bit from each. You can do it all at once or break it up into 20 minute or so intervals – whatever works best for you.
• Contact at LEAST 30 past clients and connect with them – even if it’s just to say hello, thanks for being a customer and ask them if there is anything at all you can do for them.
• Fuel your attitude of gratitude.  Every morning when your feet hit the floor you have a choice to greet the day with gratitude and joy or grumpiness and worry.  What’s it going to be?
• Make time for BALANCE.  We’re three months into the year and I’ve already seen sales pros who are burned out.  Don’t let that be you!  Use your smart time blocking skills to schedule some time for YOU, your FAMILY and your SPIRIT.  You’ll go further and accomplish more in the long run every time when your life is in better balance.
