Looking ahead and picking up speed! By Floyd Wickman
Last week, many read my blog regarding putting the rumors of my retirement to rest. Of course, many in the industry called and emailed me to ‘be sure’ – so I wanted to take a moment or two to elaborate and set the record straight. First of all, let me just say ‘WOW!’ It’s incredible to know that so many people are right there with you in the industry and eager for your contribution. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
Secondly–let me again assure you that I’m not going ANYWHERE. As I said last week – I LOVE what I do. Someone once said that they only difference between vacation and vocation is vowel. To me, however, it’s much more than that. I do what I do because I believe it is my God-given passion and because of that, I try to give it my best every time I get on a stage so people can hear it in my voice and see it in my eyes that I love helping people help themselves.
Why do I keep at it? One thing that I've found throughout the years is that agents and brokers are constantly being introduced to new tools to be successful. Smart phones, internet options, networking capabilities, lead management platforms, social media and more that are designed to help them be more successful – and those things are terrific. But the fact is that the there is still the same percentage of people year after year in the real estate industry that fail – and they fail for one reason: No one is teaching them HOW TO BE IN CONTROL of their time, prospects and attitudes. So until THAT changes? There’s always going to be a need for myself and my team of trainers. And until THAT need goes away? I’m not going away. We’re full steam ahead!
That’s what we do best – and like no other team out there. Sales pro after sales pro will come up to us at the end of 42 days and say “thank you – you have changed my life” – when all we really worked on was their career. “Thanks for making me more money,” when what we focused on was putting them in CONTROL. Even folks that have been in the business for years and years without really ‘making it’ – found that 42 days truly can make all the difference. That’s the power of the Floyd Wickman Program.
It’s a privilege. You know, every major real estate company in North America has called on us in the last 25 years - some EVERY year. To teach. Train. Help their agents help themselves. They COUNT on us to be there. That’s no small thing, and we know it. For those clients? Their agents? We’re ‘all in’ and we’ll continue to be. For us it’s about bringing not just the how-to’s, the dialogues and the content that helps sales professionals realize their goals – it’s about being there for the people that have been there for us.
As for me? Well, they say when you’re going downhill you pick up speed! That’s true enough – but I’m blessed with good health, the desire to do even greater things and we’re fast-tracking some incredible and exciting new things for our clients and our industry.
