How To Find Answers

May 20, 2020

The last time we had a national crisis like this pandemic, Floyd said, "Most people are drowning in a sea of information and thirsting for direction."  This is a different kind of time, when most of the people we know are looking for answers but hearing conflicting information, misinformation, fake news, and a bunch of nonsense. Answers would be comforting right now, but they are in short supply. So, I thought I would offer some guidelines using some of the smartest things I have heard from the smartest people I know.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER…

What would you do if you had no choice? -Floyd

Start with the end in mind. -Charles Munger (Warren Buffet's partner)

It's easier to ask the right question when you know the answer you want. -Mary (Floyd)

Never ask a question you don't already know the answer to. -Jack Warden, mentor to Paul Newman, in The Verdict

Do the activity you can control and let go of the end result. - Floyd

WOPEN WOPEN WOPEN YEZNO. – Mary (Floyd)

Try to see things from the other person's point of view. – Floyd

Flip the question on its' head. -Charles Munger

Take the highest road with the longest view. -Mary

Fly up in the air and get a bird's eye view. - Floyd

Pause. -Victor Frankl

Seek and you will find. Ask and you will receive. Knock and the door will be opened. – No attribution needed

Ask. Listen. Repeat back what you think you heard until they acknowledge that you understood what they meant. – Adult ADHD Handbook

When you eliminate the impossible, whatever is left, however improbable, must be the answer. -Sherlock Holmes

Questions come first. Answers come second. -Jim Rohn

You have two ears and one mouth. Use them in that proportion. – Epictetus

Enter specific terms into the search engine. – WikiHow

THE BEST ADVICE USUALLY BOILS DOWN TO SOMETHING LIKE THIS: INSTEAD OF LOOKING FOR A BETTER ANSWER, ASK A BETTER QUESTION.

At The Floyd Wickman Team, we don't pretend to have all the answers, but we do have the best answer if your question is, “How do I improve my production?” or if your question is, “How do I get my business started or restarted?”

Our answer is timeless and very timely.
