Who is the luckiest real estate agent in North America?

It’s the agent who finds a broker who is willing to remove the option to fail. Succeeding in real estate is way harder than failing, and failing is way more common. Why? Because if you give people the option to fail, 70% will take it every time. Why? Because it’s a heck of a lot easier.

What is the #1 problem in real estate today?

That’s easy.

It’s too easy to get into real estate and it’s too easy to get out of real estate, and while you’re in it everything is too optional.

The luckiest real estate agent in North America is the one who finds a broker who believes that “my people are as good or as bad as I train or allow them to be,” and who does not allow his or her people to be either untrained or bad.

The luckiest real estate agent in North America is the one who finds a broker who believes that listings are the name of the game, and so he or she requires agents to become skillful at listing. This unique broker understands that education without application is worse than worthless, and so he or she requires agents to not just attend training, but to apply that training in the field.

The luckiest real estate agent in North America is the one who finds a broker who believes that when the going gets tough, the weak get going and the tough get back to the basics, and that the most basic basic basic in real estate consists of talking to people.

This broker understands that their job is to make people independent of them, not dependent on them; to inspect what they expect; and that the higher the standards are, the longer the line will be to get in.

This broker understands that you build an organization from the bottom up; that a rising tide raises all boats, and when you raise up the agents in the bottom half, you raise up the whole organization; that his or her company doesn’t need all the people, it just needs all from the people it already has.

The luckiest real estate agent in North America is the one who finds a broker who believes that most self-help doesn’t work for most people most of the time, because it is incomplete, has a short shelf life and because self-help is by definition optional. This broker understands that a group of people working together as a team will always produce more than people working as individuals; that teamwork solves most problems.

And if you find that broker, please let me know because I know of a whole bunch of agents who need a change of luck.
