Live With It, Leave It, or Change It: How Real Estate Agents Can Make Tough Decisions Faster
Nov 20, 2025Sometimes the most complicated situations can be simplified with a new approach. You may be mired in the layers, complexity and nuance of a situation and unable to see a way out. As in, can’t see the forest for the trees. It can be frustrating at best, and hopeless at worst.
But if you’re lucky – right place, right time - someone comes along to untie the knot, and you’re like, “Oh, yeah. It really is that simple!”
I can’t count the number of times over the past twenty years coaching agents and leaders that I have been able to unburden someone facing a difficult road, unable to see which way to go, by offering a brilliant piece of advice I learned from Floyd.
“If you don’t like your circumstances, you only have three choices: live with it, leave it, or change it.” This little nugget of wisdom eliminates all the guesswork and dithering.
Are you to the point where you just can’t live with something or someone anymore? Then if you can’t (or won’t) leave it, the only choice you have left is to change it. Once that decision is made, the how and the when usually show up.
Floyd also said this, “It’s more important that you decide, than it is what you decide.”
And this method – live with it, leave it, or change it – gets you to a decision quicker.
So, next time you’re suffering on the horns of a dilemma – Do I stay or do I go? – Do I join a team or go it alone? – Do I fire my assistant or give him one more chance? – Do I stay in real estate or… - Ask yourself, “Can I live with things the way they are? Or am I willing to leave this misery for an unknown joy? Or am I ready to work at changing things for the better?”
